He’s Still Working On Me

Spread the love

🎶 “He’s still working on me, to make me what I ought to be.

It took Him just a week to make the moon and the stars,

The sun and the earth and Jupiter and Mars.

How loving and patient He must be,

He’s still working on me.” 🎶

Listen to the song here

My daughter sang this song during our family worship this morning, and somehow, it stuck.

All day long, those lyrics replayed in my mind — like a sweet echo from heaven.

Before I knew it, I was humming it while cooking, whispering it while driving, even singing it aloud in the middle of my day.

But then I paused…

and I really listened to the message.

Isn’t the idea of God still working on me amazing?

Creation took six days.

Me?

My patience, my attitude, my faith, my spiritual maturity? 😅

Yeah… that’s still under construction.

And before someone says, “But sis… didn’t God finish His work in creation week?”

Yes — He absolutely did. Genesis 2:2 tells us He “rested from all His work which He had made.” Creation was a complete masterpiece.

But while God finished His creation work, He didn’t stop His sanctifying work.

These are two different kinds of work — one completed, one ongoing.

The Bible says He “began a good work” in me (Philippians 1:6), and He’s still shaping, molding, and refining that work until the day Jesus returns. Isaiah calls Him the Potter and describes us as the clay — which means He’s still pressing, smoothing, and forming my character.

That’s the ongoing, daily work of sanctification — I’m His masterpiece in progress.😊

And don’t get me wrong — this is not an excuse to dabble in sin. No siree!

It’s not a pass to say, “Well, God’s still working on me,” while I knowingly keep doing foolishness.

No ma’am, no sir.

It’s a reminder that, “Melody, God is shaping you — so cooperate with Him.”

  • Let Him correct you.
  • Let Him convict you.
  • Let Him grow you.
  • Let Him pull you out of the mess you used to run toward.

His ongoing work in me is not a license to stay the same —it’s an invitation to keep surrendering, keep growing, and keep letting Him refine every part that doesn’t look like Jesus yet.

Think about it — the great God of the universe took less than a week to form the moon, the stars, the sun, and every spinning planet. Yet, here He is… still shaping me.

  • Still refining my heart.
  • Still teaching me patience.
  • Still sanding off my pride.
  • Still softening the rough edges of my faith.

He’s not in a rush.

He’s not frustrated by my slowness.

He’s patient — lovingly, intentionally, purposefully — working on me.

And maybe that’s the sweetest part:

I’m still a work in progress, but I’m in good hands.

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 1:6

So if you ever feel unfinished, unworthy, or undone… just remember — you’re still under construction.

And your Creator? He’s not done with you yet. 💛

“I am doing a new thing within you; it is a process that takes time and patience. Don’t be discouraged by the slow progress. Remember that I am the Potter; you are the clay. My job is to mold you, and yours is to stay pliable in My hands.”
