All That I Have Is Yours

Spread the love

This morning, I was listening to one of my favorite speakers when he said something that wasn’t strange to my hearing — I’ve heard it before — but somehow it caught my thoughts in mid-air.

Like it grabbed them by the collar and said, “Melody, pay attention.”

He quoted that familiar line from the Prodigal Son story:

“All that I have is yours.”

And I literally paused.

“Wait a minute… ALL?”

This is God we’re talking about.

The Owner of the universe.

The One clothed in glory and honor.

The One who measures the oceans in the hollow of His hand.

All that He has… is mine?

What exactly is God saying?

Because that’s not light. That’s not small. That’s not casual.

So you know I had to dig further.

I couldn’t let the thought perish.

It arrested me.

And what I found?

Whew. Pull up a chair.(hehe)

Nuggeteers, the Parable Isn’t Just a Story — It’s a Revelation

We focus so much on the prodigal that we forget the father’s words weren’t even spoken to him.

They were spoken to the older brother — the one who stayed.

The faithful one.

The hardworking one.

The one who followed all the rules… and still felt overlooked.

When he got angry about the celebration for his messy, returning brother, the father gently said:

“Son… you are always with Me.

And all that I have is yours.” (Luke 15:31)

Not poetic. Not symbolic.

Literal.

Under Jewish inheritance law, everything remaining on the estate actually belonged to the older son.

But here’s the kicker…

He lived like a servant while owning the entire house.

Let me say that again for the people in the back:

Oooo- I feel like I could preach now!!!

✨ He worked for what was already his.

✨ He strived for what he already possessed.

✨ He complained about what he had full access to.

Sound familiar?

Alright- let me come on down, off this mountain…. 😌

Here’s the message God pressed into my spirit…

As I studied, God whispered to my heart:

“Melody, you are not earning blessings.

You already have access.”

I sat with that.

Because like the older brother, we can:

  • serve God faithfully
  • show up consistently
  • do all the “right” things
  • sacrifice, give, pray, fast…

…and still live like spiritual employees instead of beloved children.

We forget:

  • we are heirs
  • we are daughters
  • we have a Father, not a supervisor
  • we inherit, we don’t audition
  • we receive, we don’t compete
  • we are loved, not tolerated

God was saying,

Daughter, why are you working for what already belongs to you?

Peace is yours.

Joy is yours.

Wisdom is yours.

Strength is yours.

Favor is yours.

Access is yours.

My presence is yours.

My resources are yours.

All that I have… is yours.

  • Not because you’re perfect.
  • Not because you earned it.
  • But because you belong to Me.

💡 So What Does This Mean for Us Today?

  • ✔ Stop striving — start receiving.
  • ✔ Stop performing — start resting.
  • ✔ Stop comparing — start trusting.
  • ✔ Stop living outside the celebration — step into the joy.
  • ✔ Stop approaching God like a boss — remember He’s your Father.

You don’t have to fight for a seat at the table.

The table has your name on it.

🌻 Your Nugget to Share With a Friend

Tell them:

“God isn’t withholding anything from you.

If you’re His child, the house is yours.

The blessings are yours.

The inheritance is yours.

Stop striving for what’s already been given.”

——————————

🙏🏽 Prayer

Father, help me stop living like a servant when You’ve called me a daughter. Open my eyes to the inheritance You’ve already placed in my hands. Break the mindset of striving and teach me to rest in Your love. Amen.

————————————-

Before you move on with your day/night, take a moment for a heart-check:

Ask yourself,

“Where am I still living like a servant when God has already called me His child?”

Write it down.

Release it.

Then thank God for the “ALL” He has already placed within your reach.

If you feel led, share your reflection in the comments — your insight might be the key someone else needs.
