I’ll be honest—sometimes my emotions run ahead of my faith. One minute I’m deep in devotion, and the next, my feelings are questioning everything: “but Lord, whyyyy?”

You ever been there? One moment you’re having a peaceful devotion, and the next, your emotions are side-eyeing your spirituality like, “You really gon’ pray through that? You sure?”
It’s in those moments that I realize just how loud my emotions can be—and how much louder my faith needs to become.
Because faith—true faith—requires a different kind of strength. It means surrendering, even when nothing in you feels ready. It means praying through the fear, the resistance, and yes, the tears. Not just a quiet “Thank You, Lord” kind of prayer, but the kind where you’re on the floor saying, “Take it, Lord… even this.”
This morning, I couldn’t stop thinking about Isaac—the promised son Abraham waited for. Loved. Cherished. And then… God asked for him.
Put him on the altar.
Wait—what?
No explanations. No “Let me ease you into this.” Just a command.
And Abraham obeyed. Not tomorrow. Not after a family meeting. Immediately. No stalling. No “Let me pray about it first.” Just straight-up obedience.
And just when he lifted the knife—God stopped him.

Abraham… he didn’t flinch. He let faith speak louder than his fear.
That’s the part that undoes me:
When your obedience is real—when you’re willing to give up what you love most, simply because God asked—He often responds with;
“Okay. I just needed to see if I had your heart. You can keep Isaac. Here’s a ram instead.”
I don’t know what your “Isaac” is… maybe it’s a relationship, a sweet crush, a job, a plan, a dream, a comfort zone. Maybe it’s something good… but it’s become too important. But the real question is:
Are you willing to put it on the altar?
Are you brave enough to say, “Lord, even this… I love it, but I love You more”?
Because here’s the truth—surrender invites provision.
God never wanted Isaac dead. He wanted Abraham’s heart.
And sometimes, God just wants to know that you’re willing to give up what you love, before He lets you keep it.
Bible Text:
“Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”
—Genesis 22:12
So let’s ask ourselves today:
- What’s my Isaac?
- What am I clinging to more tightly than God Himself?
- And am I willing to lay it down… even if it’s inconvenient?

Because inconvenient sacrifice may just be the gateway to unimaginable blessing.
So when you’re tempted to cling tighter instead of laying it down—remember Isaac. Remember that inconvenient sacrifice is often the doorway to God’s provision. And yes, even the dramatic parts of us can learn to bow in obedience.
