Let’s talk, friend to friend.
Ever read the story of Samson and Delilah and thought, Whew! I’d never do that!
She charmed a man right out of his anointing—for a quick payday and a pat on the back from the enemy. Shameful.

But what if… some of us are walking around with spiritual scissors, just like Delilah?
Stay with me.
Modern-Day Delilahs: It’s Not Just About Betrayal
Delilah’s story in Judges 16 isn’t just about romantic betrayal—it’s a mirror.

It reveals how our words, actions, and attitudes might be draining the spiritual strength of others.
Delilah didn’t use violence.
“With such nagging she prodded him day after day until he was sick to death of it.” (Judges 16:16)
Sometimes, we’re not fighting people—we’re just wearing them down.
Let’s look at a few ways this spirit still creeps in today—even among believers.
1. Drainers, Not Builders
Samson was strong. But Delilah didn’t support his purpose—she sabotaged it.
If we’re quick to criticize or slow to affirm others in their calling, we’re draining instead of strengthening. That new believer, that passionate friend… are we watering their growth—or wilting it with our words?
Mirror check: Am I pouring in—or poking holes?

2. Getting Close to Expose
Delilah used emotional closeness to get to Samson’s secret. Intimacy became a trap.
Are you building trust just to gather information… or to protect someone’s heart?
Could it be that our “concern” is just gossip with a halo.
🪞 Mirror check: Am I a safe space—or a secret spy?

3. Silencing the Strong
Delilah lulled Samson to sleep while the enemy crept in.
Ever seen someone passionate for God get labeled “too much”? Ever discouraged someone’s boldness because of their past?
🪞 Mirror check: Am I lifting voices—or lulling them into silence?
Grace for the Delilahs (and the Drained)
If you’ve acted like a Delilah—it’s not the end.
God doesn’t cancel. He convicts. He cleanses. He restores.

And if you’ve had your strength cut off, like Samson—don’t worry.
“But his hair began to grow again…” (Judges 16:22)
So will your strength. So will your calling.
In a world full of Delilahs, choose to be an Aaron. A Hur.
Hold up someone’s arms. Speak life. Protect purpose.
Before you speak, post, or “share that prayer request,” ask:
Am I cutting someone’s strength… or covering it with grace?
