The Unshakable Question

Spread the love

I heard this song on Sabbath, and one line arrested me mid-listen —

“My past has been erased by the rivers of grace.”

Whew. It wasn’t that I didn’t know this, but in that moment, the line hit me differently.

I sat there thinking, “Wait… erased? Not hidden, not forgiven with fine print — erased!”

And suddenly, I felt lighter. Like the invisible backpack of guilt I’ve been dragging around — stuffed with old mistakes, regrets, and “what was I thinking?” moments — had finally been snatched away by the current of God’s mercy.

I was feeling great. But then… the soloist sang the chorus again.

🎵 “Come, Jesus, come. We’ve been waiting so long. For the day You return to heal every hurt and right every wrong. We need You right now; come and turn this around. ‘Cause deep down, I know this world isn’t home. Come, Jesus, come.” 🎵

And somewhere between “heal every hurt” and “this world isn’t home,” something shifted in me.

Because suddenly, I wasn’t just basking in grace anymore.

I was being searched by it.

Then she paused, her voice breaking through the silence like a soft thunder:

“Are you ready for Jesus to come?”

I froze.

My heart whispered, “I don’t know.”

Because readiness isn’t just about knowing the prophecies or keeping the commandments.

It’s not just about singing the songs or checking all the right boxes.

It’s about heart posture.

About living daily in the overflow of those same rivers of grace —not perfection, but surrender.

And so I’ve been in a quiet state since then… thinking, praying, searching.

Am I ready? Am I walking like someone who truly knows this world isn’t home?

Maybe that’s what the song was meant to do — not to scare us, but to stir us.

To wash us again in grace, then remind us that grace doesn’t just erase our past —it prepares us for His coming.

I needed to hear the lyrics of that song, and I thought- Maybe, just maybe you need to hear them too.

So now I turn and ask you, dear reader —if Jesus were to come today, would you be ready?

Not “perfect,” not “flawless,” but ready — surrendered, trusting, watching?

Because Grace has already done the heavy lifting.

Now it’s our turn to live ready.

My prayer….

🧎🏽‍♀️‍➡️Come, Jesus, come. But until You do… help us live ready.

Grace erased the past. Readiness prepares the future.

Are you living ready?
